    AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2005--

Legerity and ARRIS Set Significant Industry Milestone - Marking 2005 as the True Year for VoIP

Legerity, Inc. today announced that during 2004 it shipped silicon with capacity for over one million lines of VoIP to ARRIS (Nasdaq:ARRS), a world leader in voice, video and data solutions. The ARRIS Touchstone(TM) Embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapters (E-MTAs), which use Legerity's chipsets, are available in 1-line, 2-line and 4-line indoor and outdoor units. During 2004, ARRIS shipped over 387,000 Touchstone E-MTAs to cable customers worldwide.
During a private celebration at the beginning of the year, Legerity presented ARRIS with an award for this significant accomplishment. The ARRIS Touchstone E-MTAs shipped during 2004 utilize Legerity's Le792221 and Le79R241 VoIP-optimized SLIC/SLAC(TM) devices. For 2005, Legerity has developed and released a more advanced, fully-integrated VoIP-optimized chipset from its VE880 family. The Le88111, and corresponding devices, are the industry's first and only chipsets to integrate SLIC and codec functionality.
"Legerity is a proven solution provider with extensive expertise in voice over broadband," said Bruce McClelland, vice president of engineering for ARRIS. "Legerity's devices allowed us to lower system design costs and improve time to market."
"Every year for the past five to six years, it has been said that 'next year' will be the year for VoIP. With this milestone passed in 2004, we can finally put a stake in the ground and state that 2005 will truly be the year of VoIP," said Mike Stibila, vice president of marketing and applications. "At this time next year, we estimate more than 11 million lines of VoIP will have been shipped to industry leaders like ARRIS."
