Lahey Clinic Selects Captiva's InputAccel for Streamlined Document Capture and Access; Healthcare Provider Plans to Expand System to Distributed Environment

    Business Editors

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2005--Captiva Software Corporation (NASDAQ: CPTV), a leading provider of input management solutions, today announced that Lahey Clinic Medical Center, a physician-led, nonprofit group medical practice, has selected InputAccel(R), Captiva's award-winning document capture software, to transform a range of documents into electronic content for streamlined processing and access to patient information. The value of the contract to Captiva is approximately $275,000.
Lahey Clinic will utilize InputAccel in its medical records department to capture patient medical records, in its finance department for invoices and explanation of benefit (EOB) forms and in its registration areas for capturing digital images of insurance cards and patient encounter forms. The resulting images and index data will be exported to a Documentum enterprise content management (ECM) system. Lahey Clinic purchased InputAccel to solve the problems inherent with storing and accessing paper medical records, forms and documents, such as space constraints and costs, the inability of more than one person to access a file at a time and the possibility of misplaced or damaged files. The system is expected to increase the productivity of medical center personnel and substantially reduce operation costs.
InputAccel will initially be implemented at Lahey Clinic's main facility in Burlington, Massachusetts, but will eventually be expanded to create a distributed capture solution across three medical center campuses and 18 outpatient facilities. In the future, Lahey Clinic also plans to implement InputAccel for Invoices(TM) for automated invoice processing in the accounts payable department.
"We're pleased Lahey Clinic has selected Captiva to create a distributed environment throughout its organization to better serve its patients," said Howard Dratler, Captiva's Executive Vice President of Field Operations. "Lahey Clinic selected InputAccel over other document capture solutions in part because of its flexibility, which allows the clinic to create customized processes and programs to fit its growing needs. This contract reaffirms Captiva's expertise in the provider side of the healthcare market, where our solutions have proven to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and improve access to critical information."
InputAccel is Captiva's award-winning information capture system that transforms mission-critical data from paper and faxes into business-ready content. InputAccel ensures the integrity of incoming data and converts it into formats usable in enterprise systems. By delivering accurate, timely and usable data, InputAccel offers users reduced operational costs, better information quality and accelerated business processes.
