KCS Announces Operations and Sales and Marketing Department Promotions

Kansas City Southern (KCS) (NYSE: KSU) subsidiary, The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR), today announced the promotions of Mark A. Redd from general manager Southwest Division to vice president transportation for the KCSR network, and D. Morris Godwin from assistant vice president to vice president intermodal and automotive operations.

Mr. Redd has been a railroader for nearly 20 years, beginning his career as a brakeman and moving into management six years later. He has provided leadership in both the field and network operations, and currently serves as the chairman of the operating board for the Port Terminal Railroad Association in Houston, Texas. He holds a master and a bachelor of science degree in management.

"Throughout his career, Mark has served in a variety of leadership positions in network and field operations. As the KCSR network has developed, he has participated in and provided leadership to a number of change management initiatives in addition to supervising the daily operation, so he understands a variety of operational issues and how to solve them,” said KCS senior vice president operations David R. Ebbrecht. "I’m confident that his leadership will help take KCSR to the next level of performance and cost saving measures.”

Mr. Godwin has over 30 years of transportation experience, mostly in the intermodal business. He joined KCSR in 2007 and has worked for Pacer International, Trism Specialty Carriers, Unicon International, APL and Norfolk Southern. He holds a bachelor of science from Georgia State University.

"Morris has demonstrated exceptional leadership as our intermodal and automotive business has grown. His extensive experience has been invaluable to the development of the KCS International Intermodal Corridor, including the opening of our Rosenberg intermodal facility and the integration of Puerta Mexico,” said KCS executive vice president sales and marketing Patrick J. Ottensmeyer.

Headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., KCS is a transportation holding company that has railroad investments in the U.S., Mexico and Panama. Its primary U.S. holding is KCSR, serving the central and south central U.S. Its international holdings include Kansas City Southern de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., serving northeastern and central Mexico and the port cities of Lázaro Cárdenas, Tampico and Veracruz, and a 50 percent interest in Panama Canal Railway Company, providing ocean-to-ocean freight and passenger service along the Panama Canal. KCS' North American rail holdings and strategic alliances are primary components of a NAFTA Railway system, linking the commercial and industrial centers of the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
