Joint Statement from Anthony Dale, President and CEO of the Ontario Hospital Association and Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health

TORONTO, March 29, 2020 /CNW/ - Today, Anthony Dale, President and CEO of Ontario Hospital Association and Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, release the following joint statement:

"From the beginning of the outbreak of COVID-19, the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Hospital Association have been working to prepare for the challenges this pandemic will present. We are in full agreement that the health and safety of frontline workers is paramount.

Recognizing increasing demand and use, the province is overcoming the challenges presented by a strained global supply chain by securing more personal protective equipment. As this work continues, we must very carefully manage the supply of personal protective equipment, including masks, that we do have until new supplies arrive. That is why, for example, Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health, has issued and will continue to review directives on the proper use of personal protective equipment to ensure that Ontario is a good steward of supply.

The Government of Ontario and Ontario hospitals are dedicating every resource needed to ensure that health care workers have what they need to serve our grateful province.

Health care workers are on the front lines of this pandemic, caring for patients and preparing to support future patients requiring admission to acute care. The province and Ontario's hospitals are eternally grateful for their professionalism and commitment to the service and care of others."
