Mr. Bewkes will answer unscripted questions about how these industries are evolving, where they fit together and what will keep them competitive. Michael Eisner, Founder, The Tornante Company – "It's All About Content” – Renowned as the maestro behind Disney's masterful turnaround, Michael Eisner is still focused on producing top-notch entertainment content through his own investment vehicle, The Tornante Company. Norman Pearlstine, Senior Advisor, The Carlyle Group – "From Editing Words To Editing Purchases” – Norman Pearlstine spent more than 25 years in publishing with senior leadership roles at SmartMoney, Time Inc. and The Wall Street Journal. Currently a senior advisor to The Carlyle Group, one of the world's largest private equity firms, Mr. Pearlstine will discuss his switch from the publishing industry to the investment industry during his own keynote interview. In addition, he will impart his view of private equity and its possibilities in the media space, and where he sees newspapers and magazines heading in the coming years. Steven Rattner, Managing Principal, Quadrangle Group – "The Media World: Where Is It Headed?” – Steven Rattner has been involved in the media for nearly 35 years, starting as a reporter with The New York Times and then as a top investment banker in the sector at Lazard Frères & Co. before leaving to help form Quadrangle, a private equity firm focused on media and communications. In his individual keynote session, Mr. Rattner will offer his perspective on the ever-changing industry and what it needs to do to survive and thrive, as well as how Quadrangle is looking for opportunities, both in the U.S. and in Europe. Sumner Redstone, Chairman & Founder, Viacom & CBS – "Leadership in a Period of Change: How CBS & Viacom Have Done It” – Sumner Redstone has built one of the great media empires as Chairman and controlling shareholder of CBS Corp. and Viacom. Russell Simmons, Founder, Rush Communications – "Business Karma” – Russell Simmons, the acclaimed entrepreneur, author and "CEO of Hip Hop,” has extended his vision across a wide spectrum of business and media. In this session, Mr. Simmons will share lessons of his journey from New York City streets to the pinnacle of business accomplishment and his views on how success is not something you achieve, but something you do. Daniel Snyder, Owner & Chairman, Washington Redskins – "Touchdowns, Roller Coasters, Dick Clark & Tom Cruise: What Does It Take to Succeed In Entertainment?” – With a diverse background, Daniel Snyder is perhaps best known as the owner of the Washington Redskins, the most valued NFL franchise. In addition, Mr. Snyder's investment arm acquired the Six Flags amusement park chain, the Johnny Rockets restaurant chain and Dick Clark Productions as well as signed a deal to back Tom Cruise and production partner, Paula Wagner, as they develop new movies. Exclusively during his conference-closing keynote interview, he will discuss the differences in drawing people to NFL games vs. attracting them to an amusement park and what he thinks is the key to getting consumers to show up and spend.
