Janice L. Block Joins Career Education as Senior Vice President and Ge

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 2005--Career Education Corporation (NASDAQ:CECO), a leading provider of private, for-profit, postsecondary education, has named Janice L. Block as Senior Vice President, General Counsel. Reporting to John M. Larson, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Block will be responsible for all legal affairs of the company and serve as corporate secretary to CEC's Board of Directors.
    Ms. Block most recently served as partner at the Chicago office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Previously, Ms. Block served as Central Region Counsel for Microsoft Corporation where she led and managed a staff of legal professionals across a 17-state region. During her tenure at Microsoft, she focused on litigation, compliance and governmental affairs.

    Ms. Block earned her bachelor's degree from Princeton University, master's degree from Northwestern University and her law degree from the Columbia University School of Law.
