ITT Names Nancy Lewis Chief Learning Officer

ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) today named Nancy Lewis, 55, to the newly created position of Chief Learning Officer. Lewis, who was also elected a vice president of the corporation, joins ITT after nearly 30 years with IBM where she most recently served as vice president for IBM Sales and On Demand Learning. "We have identified learning and development as critical elements in forging a culture where everyone has the same understanding of where we are heading and how we want to get there,” said Steve Loranger, ITT’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Nancy is a proven leader with a tremendous track record for building innovative leadership development and learning programs within complex organizations. We have great confidence in her ability to help us achieve our goal of creating a world-class learning environment within ITT.” Under Lewis’s leadership, IBM achieved global recognition for its world-class training and development programs, receiving numerous awards and honors from professional organizations and governments. IBM has been ranked number one twice in the past four years on Training magazine’s "Top 100” list for learning solutions, and the company was inducted into the Training Hall of Fame in 2007. Lewis serves on the advisory board of directors for the Wharton/Penn Graduate School of Education Chief Learning Officer program and the American Society for Training and Development’s Learning Executive Network’s advisory council. She is co-chair of the Conference Board’s Council on Learning, Development and Organizational Performance and serves on Training magazine’s editorial advisory board. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Lewis will report to Scott Crum, senior vice president and director of global human resources.
