GOLDEN, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 2005--Isonics Corporation (Nasdaq:ISON), committed to the development of next-generation technology for the homeland security and semiconductor markets, announced that it has become a member of the National Safe Skies Alliance, a non-profit organization formed to improve the safety and security of the country's airports through a coalition of public and private organizations. The announcement was made by James E. Alexander, Chairman and CEO of Isonics.
"The employees of Isonics are pleased to participate with the National Safe Skies Alliance, and to have a chance to contribute in any way possible to the effort to improve the security of air transportation in the United States," said Mr. Alexander. "Isonics is developing a range of homeland security products and technologies that we believe can play an important role in helping to ensure safety at our nation's airports."
Among those technologies is Isonics' NeutroTest(TM) explosive detection device. The Company has recently announced plans to have the neutron-based portable explosive detector available for international sale in the second calendar quarter of this year, and for domestic sale in the third quarter. Isonics is also developing other next-generation security technologies and services for homeland security, with potential applications in airport and air travel security, as well.
"We welcome Isonics as one of the newest members of the National Safe Skies Alliance," said Tom Jensen, President and CEO of the Alliance. "Our coalition's goal is to enhance cooperation among representatives of the security and air travel industries with the simple but important goal of protecting our nation's airports and the people who use them."
Isonics also announced continued progress in expansion of its homeland security division, including the planned acquisition of Protection Plus Security Consultants. "The audit of Protection Plus is moving ahead quickly, and Isonics personnel are on-site at Protection Plus finishing up our due diligence," said Mr. Alexander. "Isonics is also developing other opportunities in the homeland security space, including possible acquisitions of companies and unique technologies that we believe will ultimately enhance our product offerings and revenue growth."
The National Safe Skies Alliance conducts fully independent operational testing and evaluation of safety equipment and processes at its test facilities in Knoxville, Tenn., and at more than two dozen airports nationwide. Safe Skies conducts testing for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Transportation Security Administration, and for private clients. Its test bed projects include trace and bulk explosive detection systems, x-ray devices for threat detection, and access control for the sterile and security identification display areas and the perimeter.

About Isonics Corporation
Isonics Corporation has three business divisions: (1) Isonics Semiconductor, (2) Isonics Life Sciences, and (3) Homeland Security and Defense. Isonics is a world leader in isotopically engineered materials and through its semiconductor division produces isotopically pure silicon-28 chemicals and wafers for the semiconductor industry. Isonics' Life Sciences division markets and sells isotopes to the health care industry for the imaging and treatment of cancer. Stable isotopes can be thought of as ultra pure materials. This high degree of purification provides enhanced properties as compared to natural materials. Our efforts in the Homeland Security segment are nascent at the present time as we proceed to develop further our neutron-based detection technologies.
