Isonics Announces Availability of Video Describing Technology and Appl
Business Editors/Security Writers
GOLDEN, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 2005--Isonics Corporation (NASDAQ:ISON), committed to the development of next-generation technology for the homeland security and semiconductor markets, has announced the online availability of an informational video describing the technology and applications of its portable NeutroTest(TM) explosive detection prototype. Boris Rubizhevsky, President of Isonics' homeland security division, made the announcement.
The short video, available for viewing via streaming Internet video, provides an overview of the neutron-based technology that enables NeutroTest to detect the presence of explosives concealed in suitcases or other packages - even when hidden behind metals such as steel. The video also provides views of the second-generation NeutroTest prototype design. The new model design contains a number of functional and design improvements, and is considerably smaller and lighter in weight than the prototype shown in previously released informational videos. Before the product is released for commercial sales, additional improvements and design changes are expected for both product enhancement and compliance with new government standards that are anticipated to be established later this year.
To watch the video, please visit http://www.tril02.com/neutrotest and follow the registration instructions on the webpage. There is no charge.
The Company expects to have a NeutroTest product available for international sales in late second calendar quarter and for U.S. sales in the third calendar quarter of 2005, respectively. Isonics has identified a price range of $30,000 to $50,000 per unit, depending on the specific requirements of individual customers.
After the Company receives appropriate government approvals, it plans to initially target approximately 1,500 potential NeutroTest customers in government and commercial organizations in the U.S. The Company believes the worldwide target market for NeutroTest and NeutroTest-derived products is several times the size of the U.S. domestic marketplace.
About Isonics Corporation
Isonics Corporation has three business divisions: (1) Isonics Semiconductor, (2) Isonics Life Sciences, and (3) Homeland Security and Defense. Isonics is a world leader in isotopically engineered materials and through its semiconductor division produces isotopically pure silicon-28 chemicals and wafers for the semiconductor industry. Isonics' Life Sciences division markets and sells isotopes to the health care industry for the imaging and treatment of cancer. Stable isotopes can be thought of as ultra pure materials. This high degree of purification provides enhanced properties as compared to natural materials. Our efforts in the Homeland Security segment are nascent at the present time as we proceed to develop further our neutron-based detection technologies.
