IPIX Installation at Loyola University Part of Chicago's 'Most High-Tech Video System'

IPIX Corporation (NASDAQ:IPIX), a leading provider ofdigital surveillance and 360-degree immersive imaging solutionsannounced today the deployment of their CommandView cameras atChicago's Loyola University.

IPIX cameras have been installed at the Loyola University Museumof Art (LUMA) as part of the school's ongoing security infrastructureupgrade to ensure the safety and security of priceless artifacts andvisitors to the museum. Loyola has undertaken a security overhaul overthe past two years to fully automate and integrate its securitysystem. Additional IPIX cameras have been installed at the campuspolice emergency response center and campus buildings including thehistorical Mundelein Center.

The university awarded IPIX partner Johnson Controls the contractto implement the state-of-the-art security systems. "This installationis the most high-tech video system in Chicago today," said JimGompers, the school's security consultant. "It is leaps and boundsbeyond what anybody else is doing. The support that we've gotten fromIPIX has been phenomenal. Designing around digital, 360-degreefield-of-view technology enabled the school to install fewer cameras."he continued.

While the museum plans to use 27 of IPIX's inconspicuous,flush-mounted cameras, the infrastructure upgrade included flexibilityin camera placements to ensure 100 percent coverage of museumproperties at any time. Another six dome cameras have been installedin the vault and storage area.

The cameras will also serve a marketing purpose. LUMA will showlive parts of exhibits on its Web site to promote its shows. The LUMAinstallation, designed to maintain the architectural aesthetics of thebuilding, is set to open by the end of September, Gompers said.

Gompers said the unobtrusive cameras were essential for LUMA. "Ifpeople walk into the museum and see all these cameras, they would nothave been comfortable," he said. "This design lets patrons enjoy thespace without feeling all these cameras on them."

More installations of IPIX's 360-degree cameras are planned. Acamera in lobby of the graduate school building will enable views oftwo corridors, a lobby area and each lane of pedestrian access, aswell as the building's security control desk and entrance.

"We had a lot of black and white cameras around campus that wewere controlling with VHS, and IPIX helped us upgrade that," saidFrank Dale, a manager of technical services for campus safety "We justdid a new communications center for the police department, and we sawIPIX in action and thought that would be a great addition. It's theperfect application for us."

"Campus security is an urgent priority, and we applaud LoyolaUniversity's aggressive efforts to upgrade its technology," said ClaraConti, president and chief executive officer of IPIX. "IPIX is proudto partner with Loyola and Johnson Controls to have our best-in-classtechnology help secure the students and faculty of the institution."
