ioFABRIC Issued Patent for Automated Data Management based on Latency Requirements
TORONTO, Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- ioFABRIC Inc. announced today it has been awarded a patent for an innovation in its Vicinity policy engine for creating and managing data volumes based on latency requirements.
The patent protects a method for maintaining fast response times by auto-migrating data when hardware resources are added or decommissioned, when performance degrades due to overconsumption, or application use requirements change. Vicinity can apply this policy even when a volume is spread over multiple nodes and storage devices.
"ioFABRIC and our team continues to break ground on new ways to automate and control the management of data and devices, so IT professionals can focus on more important tasks," said ioFABRIC CEO and co-founder Steven Lamb. "This patent validates our efforts to provide the market with an evergreen data fabric that maintains service levels to applications and workloads even in the face of changing access patterns or hardware degradation."
Vicinity unlocks the true value of a multi-site multi-cloud data fabric by monitoring and automatically moving data to where it needs to be: low latency, active data remains on-premises while stale data is automatically migrated to the cloud. Vicinity profiles performance, capacity, and data protection capabilities of all storage elements, and delivers the service-level requirements that each application workload demands.
Patent No. 2960150 was issued to ioFABRIC by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), under the government agency Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.
