International Paper Q1 Earnings Drop 25%

(RTTNews) - International Paper (IP) released a profit for first quarter that fell compared to the same period last year.

The company said its profit declined to $249 million, or $0.60 per share. This was lower than $330 million, or $0.80 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.57 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 7.8% to $5.51 billion. This was up from $5.11 billion last year.
