Digital acquisition system to replace film-based technology for transition to fully digital workflow
    Intergraph (NASDAQ: INGR) Mapping and Geospatial Solutions today announced Cartographic Institute of Catalonia (ICC) has purchased the company's Z/I Imaging(R) DMC(R) (Digital Mapping Camera), the industry's only large-format digital aerial camera system. The DMC will enable ICC, the official mapping and geological agency of the Catalonian government, to complete the transition of its entire photogrammetric production processes to a fully digital workflow. The elimination of film-based data acquisition processes will enable ICC to dismantle its photolab, thus gaining valuable facilities space as well as cut the laborious and time-consuming steps of film processing and scanning, thereby shortening total production time for orthophoto and map generation.
    ICC required a data acquisition solution that was versatile enough to deliver quality aerial imagery from photoflights in non-optimal conditions and that could deliver multiple products - black and white, color and infrared imagery - in a single flight. Additional needs were for the imagery to be compatible for use with ICC's digital photogrammetric systems and workflows, specifically orthophoto and automatic aerial triangulation processes.
    ICC selected the DMC after tests validated the camera system met its technical criteria of image quality, versatility and compatibility. Test flights flown over various types of terrain with resolution targets on the ground confirmed the imagery captured by the DMC was higher quality than traditional film-based systems.

    The DMC captures imagery with proven ground resolutions up to 1 1/2 inches per pixel. Imagery acquired with the DMC maintains its initial high geometric and radiometric quality throughout each stage of the project lifecycle - mission planning, sensor management, photogrammetric production and client/server image management, storage and distribution.
