Intercontinental Exchange Average Daily Volume Down 15% In May - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE), an operator of regulated exchanges and clearing houses, Wednesday said its average daily volume in May declined by 15 percent to 5.4 million contracts from 6.41 million contracts last year.
Low price volatility across most energy products hurt the average daily volume of commodity futures and options, which decreased by 23 percent.
Meanwhile, average daily volume of financial futures and options slid by 9 percent amid a low interest environments in Europe. The decline in financial futures and options volumes was partially offset by a 23 percent increase in equity derivatives volumes, including a 32 percent rise in Liffe single stock futures.
Further, average daily volume of NYSE cash equities decreased by 13 percent , and Euronext cash equities volume was flat with the comparable period last year.
NYSE equity options volume dipped by 23 percent from last year.
The company is scheduled to announce its second-quarter earnings results on August 7.
