Ingersoll-Rand PLC Earnings Rise 8% In Q3

(RTTNews) - Ingersoll-Rand PLC (IR) revealed a profit for its third quarter that climbed compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line advanced to $323.5 million, or $1.21 per share. This was up from $298.8 million, or $1.10 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.16 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 2.9% to $3.49 billion. This was up from $3.39 billion last year.
