INBOX - The Email Event - Day One Review; Everything Email in One Place, INBOX 2006 is Best Yet!

The opening day of INBOX 2006, the email event, came toa successful close yesterday with more than 500 email marketing and ITprofessionals in attendance. With 12 packed sessions led by the emailindustry's best and brightest, an opening keynote focusing on the Artof Innovation from Guy Kawasaki and a Email Service Provider Shootout,INBOX provided sessions for all aspects of email - from technology tomarketing. INBOX 2006 is being held at the San Jose Marriott in SanJose, CA and will continue through Thursday June 1.

The general sessions for INBOX are split into four tracks:

-- Email Systems and Technology

-- Email Security

-- Email Marketing - Strategy, Creative and Delivery

-- Email Marketing - "Opened and Clicked, Now What?"

Attendees heard industry thought-leaders address topics such asthreat management, new messaging, accreditation and reputation, Webanalytics, marketing pitfalls, customer retention and more.

Accreditation and reputation proved to be a hot topic yesterdaymorning as Peter Christy of Internet Research Group, GeorgeSchlossnagle of OmniTI, Jordan Ritter of Cloudmark, JF Sullivan ofHabeas, and Leslie Price of Return Path spoke to a jam-packed audiencecomprised of attendees from both the IT and the marketing sides ofemail. Their session titled, "What You Don't Know Can Hurt You,"addressed the most common methods of accreditation and reputation,such as Sender ID and Domain Keys, as well as a forward-thinking opendiscussion of the challenges marketers still face.

This topic carried over to the Email Service Provider (ESP)Shootout moderated by David Daniels of JupiterResearch. The panelistsincluded Jim Herbold of EmailLabs, Steve Webster of iPost, JaredReitzin of mobileStorm, George Schlossnagle and Joshua Baer ofSKYLIST. These ESP representatives had the opportunity to discusstheir company's products, services and unique solutions to marketer'sdemands such as accreditation, reputation, list management, spamfilters, relevance and more. Interaction with the audience sparkeddebates among the panelists and sparked interest among the attendees.

The opening keynote session titled, "The Art of Innovation," wasdelivered by Guy Kawasaki, founder of Garage Technology Ventures andformer evangelist for Apple Computers, Inc. Mr. Kawasaki discussed thetop 12 tips that drive an innovation and how marketers can apply theseconcepts to their campaigns. Among other points, he emphasized that,in order to be effective, marketers must make meaning, jump to thenext curve and "niche thyself." Today's keynote, a panel entitled,"The Truth About the Email Ecosystem: A View from Both Sides of theRoom," and moderated by Peter Christy, confronts the most importantissues of the email ecosystem and discusses how our peers are drivingthe future of email and messaging in the real world.
