Imperial Tobacco Shareholders Approve Proposed Acquisition Of Some U.S. Assets

(RTTNews) - Imperial Tobacco Group PLC (IMT.L) said Wednesday that at the general meeting of the company, its shareholders have approved the company's proposed acquisition of certain U.S. cigarette and e-cigarette brands and assets currently owned by Reynolds American Inc. (RAI) and Lorillard, Inc. (LO).

The deal was originally announced on July 15, 2014.

Completion of the acquisition remains conditional on the fulfilment of the other conditions set out in the asset purchase agreement.

Earlier Wednesday, Lorillard shareholders voted overwhelmingly to approve the company's prposed $27.4 billion acquisition by Reynolds American, the parent company of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.
