IHOP Admits Name Change Was Marketing Stunt
(RTTNews) - Pancake house chain IHOP, or The International House of Pancakes, has revealed that last month's name change was just a publicity stunt to promote its hamburger menu.
"We're giving away 60¢ short stacks on July 17 from 7a-7p for IHOP's 60th birthday. That's right, IHOP! We'd never turn our back on pancakes (except for that time we faked it to promote our new burgers)" IHOP tweeted.
Last month, IHOP announced its temporary name change to IHOb, to celebrate the debut of its new Ultimate Steakburgers, a line up of seven all-natural burgers made from Black Angus ground beef.
The chain's decision to change its name created an uproar on the social media furor, even though IHOP said the new name IHOB "for the time being."
