Hydro Ottawa crews continue to restore power after ice storm
OTTAWA, April 16, 2018 /CNW/ - Heavy freezing rain caused power outages for 72,850 homes and businesses today. Ice build-up broke dozens of hydro poles, weakened trees and fell branches.
As of 4:20 p.m., there remain 263 outages affecting 22,500 customers. These outages are in small pockets across the city. Hydro Ottawa crews and contractors will continue to work around the clock to restore power. Priority is given first to large scale outages, followed by smaller ones, keeping safety as the number one priority amid these icy conditions.
Given the widespread damage, it is anticipated that most power outages will be restored Wednesday, with all outages resolved Thursday. Hydro Ottawa wishes to thank its customers for their patience and understanding as we continue restoration efforts.
