Honda Motor January Production Rises - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Japanese automaker Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (HMC) reported Wednesday that its worldwide production for the month of January increased 10.5 percent from last year to 378,718 units. Production in Japan surged 65.3 percent to 97,145 units, while that of outside Japan edged down 0.9 percent to 281,573 units.

In the month, production in North America dropped 3.9 percent to 144,747 units, with a 0.9 percent drop in USA. European production declined 26.7 percent, while Asia production grew 8.9 percent with a 37.5 percent climb in China.

In Japan, the company sold 91,504 vehicles of Honda brand, up 64.5 percent from last year. Registrations climbed 135.9 percent, and mini vehicles' sales grew 21.3 percent.

The company's total exports from Japan declined 68.2 percent. In Japan, Honda shares are currently trading at 3,721 yen, up 11 yen or 0.30 percent.
