Hitachi Hosts American Teachers in Japan

Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT), today announced that four teachers from the U.S. are taking part in an educational and cultural exchange venue in Japan as part of Hitachi’s long-standing International School Teachers Exchange Program (HISTEP) that began in 1987. The HISTEP program provides educators from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan with the opportunity to experience each other’s educational system and society, and promote the open exchange of ideas between cultures. The four teachers will tour and observe classes at schools in Tokyo and Hitachi City as well as meet local education, government and business leaders, stay with families of a Hitachi employee, and tour points of interest in the respective cities, including visiting several Hitachi facilities before returning to the U.S. The tour runs June 23 through July 7. Some 140 educators have been part of this program, since it began in 1987.” The North America-based teachers in this year’s program are Doug Aldrich of Newmarket, Ontario Canada from Balmoral Dr. Senior Public School in Brampton, Ontario; Marian Arnold Becker of Danville, Kentucky, from the Burgin Independent Middle School, Burgin, Kentucky; Suzanne Davis of Irvington, New York from Sleepy Hollow High School, Sleepy Hollow, New York; and Donna Kaye Mayle of Gilroy, California from Ascension Solorsano Middle School, Gilroy.
