Hispanic Business Magazine Names Southern California Edison Top Company for Hispanics

Hispanic Business magazine has ranked Southern California Edison (SCE) as the number one company in the U.S. on its annual Diversity Elite 60, a list of the nation’s companies that are best at making diversity part of their corporate culture.

"The fact that Southern California Edison has become one of the most recognized companies in the U.S. for workplace diversity is a true testament to our corporate commitment of establishing a workplace that mirrors all of the communities we serve,” said Veronica Gutierrez, SCE’s vice president, Corporate Communications.

The Hispanic Business Diversity Elite 60 list is a compilation determined by more than 30 variables including measuring companies’ commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity.

SCE topped the 2009 list largely due to managing and supporting a robust, diverse workforce that is an integral part of the company’s identity and corporate culture. The company supports affinity groups comprised of employees of various cultures, traditions, ethnicities and sexual orientation. SCE also exemplifies the diversity model with its "Partners in Supplier Diversity" program, which increases the awareness of the company’s commitment to working with women, minority, and disabled veteran-owned businesses.
