(RTTNews) - Herman Miller Inc. (MLHR) Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $16.6 million or $0.28 per share, compared to $23.4 million or $0.40 per share in the same period last year.

Adjusted earnings for the latest fourth quarter were $0.50 per share, up from $0.43 per share in the same quarter last fiscal year. On average, four analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.46 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Sales increased 6.0 percent to $487.5 million from $460.0 million last year, while three analysts expected sales of $496.57 million.
