Hendrickson International Establishes Jerry Reynolds Memorial Scholarship with Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation

EXTON, Pa., Aug. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hendrickson has established the Jerry Reynolds Memorial Scholarship through the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation. Jerry Reynolds was employed at Hendrickson as the Director of North American Field Service at the time of his death May 7th 2013.

The annual $3,000 scholarship is established for students attending UTI's Exton, PA campus in either its 45-week Diesel & Industrial Technical Program or its 75-week Auto/Diesel and Industrial Program.

"When Jerry passed away due to Cancer, his loss rippled through our company.  With over 19 years with the Hendrickson organization Jerry will be sadly missed by all he touched.  Jerry will be remembered for his strong value's in faith and in family, in his military service, his hearty laugh and his love of old cars and cigars.  Jerry was many things at Hendrickson, a co-worker, peer, leader, mentor and a boss but to all of us who had the opportunity to interact with him, a good friend!" says Steve Berry. "Jerry valued education and led many Hendrickson internal programs to assist in development of our industries Technicians.  Jerry`s work with one of these programs (HVSI) Hendrickson Vehicle Suspension Institute led to our relationship with UTI and the positive experiences with the staff and students at the UTI Exton campus.  So, when we talked with the Reynolds family about how to honor his memory, Hendrickson automatically thought about a scholarship at UTI in its diesel programs. Helping to fund a portion of a student's diesel education and get a leg up on the pursuit of a successful career would have thrilled Jerry."

The Jerry Reynolds Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to future students who meet the scholarship's requirements that include plans to pursue a career in the diesel field, maintaining at least a 95% attendance record and a 3.5 GPA while in school.

"We are honored that Hendrickson chose to remember Jerry Reynolds through a scholarship at UTI," says Veronica Meury, UTI Foundation Vice President and Executive Director. "Students come to UTI campuses with a passion to pursue a technical education, and this scholarship will go a long way toward making that a reality for an Exton student."

The application deadline for the Jerry Reynolds Memorial Scholarship is November 1, 2013. For more information about the scholarship, visit the UTI Foundation website: www.utifoundation.net, and click on Scholarships/Grants.
