Harman International Strengthens Management with Key Executive Appointments
Harman International Industries, Incorporated (NYSE:HAR) announced today
it is making several changes in the composition of its Group Executive
Committee. All new appointees will report directly to Harman’s
Chief Executive Officer, Dinesh C. Paliwal.
Herbert K. Parker will assume the position of Chief Financial Officer,
effective June 1, 2008. He will also be a member of Harman Group
Executive Committee. Parker is a veteran of more than 25 years in the
finance field, serving since early 2006 as CFO of the $6 billion

Earlier, he held the CFO role for the company’s
$12 billion global automation division and has held similar positions
for group businesses in Australia, China and Switzerland. Parker has an

Kevin L. Brown, who has held the Harman CFO position since 2005, will

remain with Harman to support a smooth transition through the Company’s
fiscal-year close in August.

Chief Executive Officer, with effective date to be determined. He will
also be a member of Harman Group Executive Committee. Blickle served

from the University of Stuttgart, Germany and has managed businesses in

Concurrent with this appointment, Helmut Schinagel, who currently leads
the Harman automotive business, will be promoted to the role of Harman
Group Chief Technology Officer. He will continue to be a member of
Harman Group Executive Committee. Prior to joining Harman in 2006,
Schinagel held a series of senior management roles in technology and
innovation for BMW Group, Siemens Semiconductor Division, Bosch and
Telefunken. He earned a degree in Electro Mechanics from Germany’s
Heilbronn Technical Institute.
Dr. Erich Geiger, who has served as Harman’s
Chief Technology Officer since 1998, will retire in August following a
distinguished career that spans more than 40 years, including 15 years
at Harman. He will continue to serve the company in a group consulting
capacity under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer.
David Karch is appointed to the new position of Senior Vice President,
Operational Excellence, effective immediately. He will also be a member
of Harman Group Executive Committee. His charter includes both
accelerating migration of the Company’s global
footprint and strengthening its processes for quality, supply chain and
productivity. Karch has been with Harman since 1999, serving most
recently as Senior Vice President, Manufacturing for the Automotive
Division. He has been instrumental in the expansion of Harman’s
presence in China, Eastern Europe and Mexico, and has published several
