Greenberg Traurig Enhances its Litigation Practice with the Addition of Katherine Treistman in Houston

HOUSTON, Feb. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Fresh on the heels of announcing the arrival of Carlos Treistman, a founding partner and a former leader of Orrick's Houston office, the co-head of the Latin America Practice and well-known player in Houston's corporate, private equity and business communities, Greenberg Traurig is now also pleased to welcome Katherine Treistman another founding partner of Orrick's Houston office and the global co-head of its Energy Disputes Practice, to its Houston office and the firm's litigation practice.

"I could not be more pleased to welcome Katherine to our expanding Greenberg Traurig family in Houston," said Richard A. Rosenbaum, Greenberg Traurig's Executive Chairman. "Both she and Carlos fit our practice focus areas and culture. We have patiently grown our three offices in Texas over the last 15 years, enjoying strong revenue growth without succumbing to the short-term thinking and growth for growth's sake so rampant in the market. With Carlos' focus on private equity, technology, energy and LatAm, and Katherine's strong litigation background, they will hit the ground running in our environment."

Katherine Treistman is an experienced trial lawyer whose practice has focused on complex commercial disputes in the energy industry, technology, finance, private equity, antitrust, auditor liability and other high stakes commercial claims. Before joining Orrick, she was a partner at Susman Godfrey where she worked for 20 years and has vast trial and pre-trial experience.

"In the past 12 months, Greenberg Traurig's unique culture and strategy in Texas have allowed us to welcome more than 20 new attorneys to our three offices in Austin, Dallas, and Houston, where our team of more than 125 attorneys works as a truly Texas firm while simultaneously being integral members of a unified global law firm," said litigation shareholder Mary-Olga Lovett, the firm's Senior Vice President and Co-Regional Operating Shareholder of its Texas offices. "Katherine is a stellar litigator with broad experience in Texas and around the nation."

Treistman noted, "Greenberg Traurig's position of leadership in Texas and in complex litigation will benefit my clients. The firm 'gets' Texas! This is a synergistic opportunity for me, my clients, and the firm, and I am excited to work with the firm's powerhouse team and of course, continue working closely with Carlos and our mutual clients."

Greenberg Traurig's preeminent Global Litigation Practice, led by co-chairs Lori G. Cohen and Jeff E. Scott, consists of more than 600 attorneys working across the firm's 39 offices around the globe. Most recently, The American Lawyer recognized the firm as "National Litigation Department of the Year for Products Liability."

On Feb. 1, Carlos Treistman joined Greenberg Traurig from Orrick, where he was co-chair of the Latin America Practice, one of the founding partners of the Houston office, and served as the original office leader.
