Globe Specialty Metals Turns To Profit In Q1 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Globe Specialty Metals Inc. (GSM), a producer of silicon metal, Thursday posted third-quarter net income attributable to the company of $1.6 million or $0.02 a share, compared to a net loss of $40.1 million or $0.53 a share in the comparable quarter last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.14 a share, compared with $0.00 a share in the prior year. On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.14 a share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net sales for the quarter were $196.06 million, compared with $195.85 million a year ago, while five analysts expected revenues of $193.56 million for the quarter.
