Globe Specialty Metals Profit Tops Estimate

(RTTNews) - Globe Specialty Metals Inc (GSM), a producer of silicon metal and specialty alloys, Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $6.2 million or $0.08 per share compared with $9.7 million or $0.13 per share last year.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.18 per share.

Revenues for the quarter were $205.4 million compared with $181 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.15 per share on revenues of $205.5 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Sales volume for the quarter climbed to 75,414 metric tons from 64,751 metric tons a year ago.

The company announced a quarterly dividend of $0.075 per share.
