Free BMAT & LNAT Information Seminars Introduced for Students Applying

- Test Preparation Leader Kaplan Advises Students to Start Preparing for 2005 UK Admissions Tests Now

Students applying to top law and medicine degree programmes in the UK now face a new hurdle, in addition to achieving A grades in their A-levels: they need to perform well on the new LNAT or BMAT admissions tests. For students seeking guidance on the new tests, Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, a leader in test preparation for nearly 70 years, has announced it will be offering new BMAT and LNAT information seminars and preparation courses for 2005.

The series of FREE information sessions will be held at the London Kaplan Centre, 3-5 Charing Cross, for students seeking to study law or medicine. In addition to providing sample exam questions, Kaplan experts will offer insight to help students better understand the role of these tests in the admissions process, as well as their structure and content. Parents are also invited to attend.

The London Kaplan Centre, which has been preparing students for admissions tests since 1994, last year saw its newly launched preparation courses for the BMAT and LNAT booked beyond capacity. Due to early demand, Kaplan has added BMAT and LNAT classes this year in addition to the free information seminars.

The BMAT and LNAT are required for entry into the more competitive law and medical degree programmes. Last year, 57,357 students applied for just 7,667 places to study medicine in the UK, and 110,016 students were competing for 17,890 places to study law. The tests were introduced to help universities' admissions departments differentiate between increasing numbers of applicants who achieve 3 A's at A-level. Students' scores on the BMAT and LNAT can therefore play an important part in their future.

Kaplan's 2-day BMAT and LNAT courses include two full-length practice tests, a strategy book, essay-writing workshop and considerable extra practice material for self-study following the course. The courses will be held at the Kaplan London Centre from August 2005, and also in host schools. The 2005 courses devote particular attention to the writing section of the exams, an area in which universities noted students performed very poorly last year.
