Fine Homebuilding To Host #KeepCraftAlive Panel Discussion And Networking Event In Denver, Colorado on October 25 At Tradecraft Industries

NEWTOWN, Conn., Oct. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As demand for housing rises, a shortage of qualified workers is hampering American homebuilders' ability to grow their businesses to meet the country's expanding housing needs. This "skills gap" is real, and with relatively little new blood coming into the industry, the problem is forecasted to get worse as existing tradespeople age out of the workforce.

As part of the company's extensive educational outreach, Fine Homebuilding, the most trusted and authoritative resource for the residential construction and remodeling community, announced today that it is hosting a #KeepCraftAlive Panel Discussion and Networking event in Denver, CO to address strategies to help close the Skills gap in the building industry. Join the conversation with colleagues from the high-end Colorado builder market and Fine Homebuilding brand ambassador and builder John Hourihan as they discuss the skills gap and what they and other builders can, and have done, to continue to grow their businesses in a tightening labor market.

The event will take place on Thursday, October 25, 2018 in Denver, Colorado at Tradecraft Industries from 4:00p to 7:00p MT and includes a dynamic panel of thought leaders including:

Matt Millham- Moderator, Fine Homebuilding

Rob Yagid, Founder and Executive Director of Keep Craft Alive added "Denver, Colorado has one of the fastest growing building markets in the country stifled only by the lack of qualified and skilled labor. We're hosting this Keep Craft Alive event, along with our industry partners and regional building experts, to bring the contractor community together to discuss ways to navigate the challenges posed by the nation's skills gap."

Renee Jordan, SVP Publisher adds "We are honored to be bringing the Keep Craft Alive messaging and experience to local markets. What started as a social media hashtag to showcase pride in construction craft, Keep Craft Alive has quickly become the rallying cry for the industry to take action and find ways to solve the skills gap issues together. We are grateful to TradeCraft Industries for partnering with us to host this event, and to our other supporting partners in this mission to support this localized event -- Pella, CertainTeed, Truewerk, and FastenMaster."

Tradecraft Industries, located at 6145 Broadway in Denver, CO, is right at the center of Denver's hot builder market, and the first of its kind, a construction co-working space designed specifically for the construction industry.

Keep Craft Alive: Powered by Fine Homebuilding
The disparity between the employment demands of a growing housing construction industry and the shortage of trained, qualified labor, more commonly referred to the skills gap, continues to be a serious concern for the vitality of the industry and of the economy overall. The recession displaced many workers, and now Baby Boomers are exiting the workforce at a rapid rate – there are not enough people entering the trades to meet the demands. From the pace of building, to the cost of construction, the prices of homes, the quality of our housing infrastructure—the skills gap is having a deep and far-reaching impact on our society. That's why Fine Homebuilding launched the Keep Craft Alive campaign – to leverage all our media resources and platforms to bring awareness to the problem and to help build towards a solution. What started as a campaign is now a movement. Fine Homebuilding has partnered with industry organizations and influencers to surface skills training and educational opportunities and to fund student scholarships to support those who want to pursue a path in the trades. Most importantly, we have tapped our core content development capabilities and media platform reach to celebrate the value of true craftsmanship in all trades in order to influence the cultural narrative about what it means to be a respected, successful professional.
