Federated Investors Q4 Profit Declines, Yet Tops View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Federated Investors, Inc. (FII) Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $41.1 million or $0.39 per share, compared to $49.6 million or $0.44 per share in the same period last year.

On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.37 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues dropped 12 percent to $214.72 million from $244.82 million last year, while seven analysts expected revenues of $214.57 million.

The decrease was due primarily to an increase in voluntary fee waivers related to certain money market funds in order for those funds to maintain positive or zero net yields and a decrease in revenue due to lower average money market and fixed-income assets.

Federated's board of directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.25 per share, payable on Feb. 14, 2014 to shareholders of record as of Feb. 7, 2014.
