Family Dollar Names Donald G. Smith Vice President-Marketing
Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (NYSE:FDO) today announced that it has named
Donald G. Smith to the position of Vice President –
Marketing. Mr. Smith will report to Robert George, Executive Vice
President and Chief Merchandising Officer.
"Effectively coordinating our promotional
activity with in-store advertising is a critical component of our
Treasure Hunt strategy and other traffic-driving initiatives,”
said Robert George. "Don’s
expertise in small-box retailing and the consumer product industry will
help us increase customer traffic through more cost-effective marketing
and promotions. Through his leadership, Don will play a critical role in
providing Family Dollar customers with a more compelling place to shop.”
Prior to joining Family Dollar, Mr. Smith served as Vice President,
Sales and Marketing, for Perrigo Nutrition. He has held similar
positions with General Nutrition Centers and Nabisco Foods Groups. Mr.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration
from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Masters in Business
Administration from the University of Rochester.
