Etsy Unveils Plan For Free Shipping

(RTTNews) - Online marketplace Etsy is set to offer free shipping to its U.S. customers who spend at least $35. The move is expected to enable sellers to attract more customers as items shipped for free get priority placement in US search results.

Etsy said it will provide sellers with tools and support to help them guarantee free shipping to US buyers who spend at least $35 in their shop.

The company's new scheme is expected to bring in more customers with better order value, and encourage repeat visits.

Etsy will begin actively marketing this free shipping initiative to buyers starting in September to drive more traffic to the Etsy marketplace and its sellers' shops.

In May, the market place had run a similar limited-time free shipping offer, that led to higher order value.

The marketplace focuses on offering handmade or vintage items and craft supplies under a wide range of categories such as jewelry, bags, clothing, home décor and furniture, toys, art, as well as craft supplies and tools.
