Environmental Protection Agency Awards $40.3M Brownfields Analytical and Technical Support Contract to SRA

FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SRA International, Inc. , a leading provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to federal government organizations, announced that it has been awarded a competitive contract by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). SRA will provide a broad range of technical and analytical support to EPA's Brownfields Program, designed to clean up contaminated properties and sustainably reuse them to create economic growth and more livable communities. The contract has an estimated value of $40.3 million over five years if all options are exercised.

Since its inception in 1995, EPA's Brownfields Program has empowered states, local governments, communities, and other participants in community revitalization to work together to prevent, assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse brownfields -- defined as real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. Under this contract, SRA will apply industry best practices in technical research and analytical support, legislation and policy analysis, program planning, data analysis, communications and outreach, and facilitation and training to help EPA's Office of Brownfields Cleanup and Redevelopment effectively manage the program. Combined with the recent award of a four-year information technology, performance metrics, and data analysis contract, SRA will continue to play a critical role providing EPA's Brownfields Program with integrated, innovative program implementation and information management solutions.

"SRA has a long history of support to the Brownfields Program, and we are proud to have been selected to continue this important work," said Peter Trick, SRA Vice President and Director, Environmental and Organizational Services. "The program has become a nationally recognized model of an innovative and successful public and private partnership. The SRA team's expertise in combining environmental protection with economic development enables us to help EPA and its stakeholders return even more brownfields back to productive, sustainable reuse."
