EFI and Xerox Bring to Market the Highest Performing Fiery Print Server for Xerox iGen4 Press
EFI™ (Nasdaq:EFII), the world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today began shipping its highest performing Fiery® print server for Xerox Corporation’s iGen4™ press, a combination that delivers unparalleled image and color quality, maximum productivity and unsurpassed reliability to ensure print providers can produce exceptional results every time.
Together with the new EX Print Server powered by Fiery, the iGen4 press is one of the most productive and highest-quality cut-sheet digital color presses in the printing industry, creating offset and photo-quality images with consistent color from the first print to the last. It is an ideal press for producing high-end collateral, direct marketing, Variable Data Print (VDP) and photo specialty products.
"Adding the powerful Xerox iGen4 press to the list of Fiery-driven engines in the marketplace gives print providers another strong solution to increase throughput, grow their businesses and boost profits,” said John Henze, vice president of marketing, Fiery Division, EFI. "The EX Print Server powered by Fiery delivers the outstanding image quality, blazing speed, heavy duty VDP capabilities and 24/7 reliability required by the most demanding print service providers.”
"The unique combination of the Xerox iGen4 and Fiery technology allows print providers to more easily handle higher profit and complex jobs while ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat orders,” said Kevin Horey, manager, Production Solutions Product Marketing, Xerox Corporation. "This is a great investment for printers looking to stay competitive, work more productively and add to the bottom line.”
Achieving color quality and consistency remains one of the biggest challenges facing the printing industry, but with the finest integrated and automated tools in the EX Print Server the guesswork is completely removed, resulting in professional quality color "out of the box” to deliver the desired output the first time and every time. The iGen4 press is the first digital press to include an In Line Spectrophotometer (ILS). Integrated profile making using the Fiery server’s award-winning Color Profiler Suite ensures accurate colors and maximum gamut utilization. Combined with Fiery Spot-On™ for spot color management, profile making allows for dynamic PANTONE color adjustments so operators of all skill levels can ensure corporate colors are always a match.
The EX Print Server is one of the first to ship with the new Fiery Command WorkStation® 5 (CWS5). Fiery CWS5 unleashes the powerful features of Fiery servers by centralizing job management via an intuitive, flexible interface that produces jobs faster, dramatically reduces operator error, decreases waste, and increases the overall profitability for the production printer. Fiery CWS5 simplifies complex jobs, providing exceptional results at every stage of a job at two to three times the throughput speed of most competitive printing systems to enable the print shop to deliver customer jobs more profitably.
With the Fiery-driven iGen4 press, it is easy to handle higher profit, complicated jobs that require document imposition and composition. The new Fiery SeeQuence Suite of make-ready software tools further simplifies and automates labor intensive document preparation activities via an intuitive interface. Fiery SeeQuence Impose and Fiery SeeQuence Compose work independently or in a tightly integrated workflow through CWS5, allowing operators of different skill levels to accurately set-up jobs and soft-proof.
In addition, the Fiery controller streamlines and speeds up communication with direct connectivity to the iGen4 press to ensure production at rated speeds. The Fiery open platform conforms to industry standards and integrates seamlessly into the Xerox FreeFlow® suite of workflow software, enabling integration into pre-press and production processes and offering additional workflow automation tools to gain maximum productivity. Also, print providers with an EFI VUTEk® superwide printer, EFI Rastek™ wide-format printer, EFI Print MIS or EFI proofing solution can take advantage of the integration between multiple EFI and Xerox technologies to optimize job management and production workflow.
