EDS' Dave Morrow Honored By The Alliance for Enterprise Security Risk Management

PLANO, Texas, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EDS chief security and privacy officer Dave Morrow was recognized by The Alliance for Enterprise Security Risk Management (AESRM) for his leadership in security convergence, the essential shift toward the integration of traditional and information security functions.

Thirty-three security professionals from around the world were nominated for the AESRM award with Morrow being named one of three finalists. Other finalists were Dave Tyson of the City of Vancouver and David Kent of Genzyme Corporation. Tyson was presented with the award.

"Dave is a tremendous asset to EDS and our clients. He has led EDS to successfully manage physical and IT security as one integrated function, meeting the emerging needs of business today," said Mike Sample, EDS vice president of Executive Operations and Enterprise Risk Management.

Morrow is recognized as a leader in the security discipline. Drawing from his managerial and computer forensics background, he is a specialist in integrating security with business strategy. As director Enterprise Risk Management and chief security and privacy officer, Morrow is responsible for all aspects of physical and IT security at EDS. He holds a certification as a Certified Information Security Manager from ISACA.

Criteria for AESRM's Excellence in Security Convergence Award included extensive leadership in improving the convergence of traditional and information security throughout an organization; progress in areas such as improved security and decreased risk within an enterprise; achieved demonstrable ROI/cost savings, convergence progress achieved in all three domains of people, process and technology; and demonstrated leadership in sharing convergence accomplishments outside of one's own enterprise.

AESRM is a partnership of the three leading international security associations -- ASIS International, ISACA, and the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA). The alliance brings together more than 90,000 global security professionals with broad security backgrounds and skills to address the significant increase and complexity of security-related risks to international commerce from terrorism, cyber attacks, Internet viruses, theft, fraud, extortion and other threats.
