Edison International and Southern California Announce Senior Executive Moves

Three key executive positions were announced by the boards of directors of Edison International and Southern California Edison (SCE). All moves will be effective April 1, 2008. Ronald L. Litzinger, 48, SCE’s senior vice president, Transmission and Distribution Business Unit, will become the new chairman, president and CEO of Edison Mission Group (EMG), succeeding Theodore F. Craver, Jr. who will become president of Edison International as previously announced. Litzinger will report to Craver. Pedro J. Pizarro, 42, senior vice president, Power Procurement at SCE, will become executive vice president, Power Operations. In this new position, he will oversee three important business units: Transmission and Distribution, Power Procurement and Edison Carrier Solutions. Pizarro will continue to report to Alan J. Fohrer, chairman and CEO, SCE. James A. Kelly, 50, vice president, Engineering and Technical Services, Transmission and Distribution Business Unit at SCE, will assume the role of senior vice president and head the Transmission and Distribution Business Unit. Kelly will report to Pizarro. "These three announcements are a tribute to our bench strength in leadership talent at Edison,” said John E. Bryson, chairman and CEO of Edison International. Of all the investments we’ve made in our future, none is more important than developing our next generation of leaders, and this is an example of how invaluable that is.” Litzinger has held executive positions at Edison International, Southern California Edison and Edison Mission Energy (EME) since joining the company in 1986. Litzinger began his career at SCE as an engineer, and then moved to EME in 1995 where his last position was senior vice president and chief technical officer from 2000 to 2004. Next in 2004, he assumed the post of vice president of Strategic Planning for Edison International and was promoted and moved to his current position in 2005. Commenting on Litzinger’s new role Craver said, "Ron worked at EMG from 1995 to 2004 in a range of executive positions, and as a result, has a deep understanding and command of the business. He is an accomplished executive capable of leading EMG, and the talented people who work there, in the successful execution of our growth strategy.” Litzinger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Washington and a Master of Arts degree in management from the University of Redlands. He lives with his wife Sheila in Long Beach, Calif. They have two children, Faye and Brenda. On Pizarro’s new role, Fohrer said, "From the time Pedro came to the company, he has been a great contributor to the business. He has been asked to take on a series of challenging jobs and he has done well in all of them.” Pizarro graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and went on to earn a Ph.D. in chemical physics at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Calif. He joined McKinsey & Co. and became a senior engagement manager in Los Angeles, working with clients in the energy, technology, engineering and banking sectors. He began at Edison International in 1999 and rose by 2005 to his current job, in which he was instrumental not only in assuring customers of adequate power supplies but in establishing Edison as the industry leader in acquiring energy from renewable sources. He lives with his wife Monica and their two children, Alana and Gabriel, in Pasadena. Kelly’s career at Edison has included both line and staff positions. In his current job, he oversees the planning, engineering and designing of SCE’s electric transmission, substation and distribution system, in addition to responsibility for safety, training and research and development. Kelly earned an undergraduate degree in economics from California State University, Long Beach and a graduate degree in economics from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Calif. Kelly and his wife Leigh live in Arcadia, Calif. They have two children, Maren and Jan.
