Eclipsys Revenue Cycle Solutions Enable WellSpan Health Systems to Improve Cash Flow to 98 Percent of Net Revenue
Eclipsys Corporation®
(NASDAQ: ECLP), The Outcomes Company®,
today announced that WellSpan Health Systems (Wellspan), a fully
integrated health system located in south-central Pennsylvania, has
experienced record outcomes after successfully implementing Eclipsys’
Sunrise Access Manager™ and Sunrise Patient
Financials™ at its two acute care facilities,
York and Gettysburg hospitals.
"We selected Eclipsys because they have
proven solutions in the marketplace capable of handling any payer
contract, plus they give us an unprecedented level of functionality in
our patient accounting system,” said Linda
Sheaffer, CPAM, CCAM, corporate director of Patient Administration
Services. "Before using Eclipsys, we
inherently knew money was being left on the table. Now we’ve
leveraged technology to develop an integrated process for both of our
hospitals and it has enabled us to collect 98 percent of expected net
revenue to increase cash for operations and profit to the bottom line.”
WellSpan implemented Eclipsys Revenue Cycle solutions at its York
Hospital after having long struggled with complex managed care and
compliance requirements, coupled with staff-intensive, back-end
processes. As a result, the organization had insufficient contract
management, long A/R cycles, decreased cash flow and excessive care
management administrative processes. After seeing the positive results
of that install, the health system extended the implementation to its
Gettysburg Hospital.
The use of Sunrise Access Manager and Sunrise Patient Financials has
enabled both hospitals to streamline patient financial operations, boost
employee productivity while ensuring compliance with multiple payer
requirements and complex regulatory environments. In addition, WellSpan
has realized increased efficiency in its registration process, resulting
in cleaner claims and reduced managed care denials. The organization
also has significantly increased point of service collections by
electronically determining patient co-pays and deductibles. The Eclipsys
solutions also are providing WellSpan managers with immediate feedback
about organizational operations, with actionable information to improve
performance.
With Eclipsys Revenue Cycle solutions, WellSpan has seen the following
outcomes:
Reduced annual net A/R days by combined 28% (46 days at York Hospital;
37 at Gettysburg)
Attained highest cash collections ever: 98% on net revenue
Reduced managed care denials and write-offs
Improved registration quality to 99% through bill edits
Increased point-of-service collections 54% to $1.2 million
Raised clean-claim throughput to 99%
Implemented a combined business office requiring less staff resources
"WellSpan is another example of how Eclipsys
continues to distinguish itself in the marketplace with a concentrated
focus on delivering solutions that can drive measurable outcomes,”
said Jay Deady, Eclipsys executive vice president, Client Solutions. "These
types of great client results are fueling our strong sales performance
and the continued momentum of our revenue cycle business.” About WellSpan Health Systems
