eBay Names Bob Swan Chief Financial Officer
As CFO for eBay, Swan will assume responsibility andaccountability for the financial activities and performance of thecompany. Swan will be responsible for all aspects of eBay's financefunction including controllership, financial planning and analysis,tax, treasury, audit, mergers and acquisitions, and investorrelations. He will also join the company's Executive Staff.
"I am thrilled that Bob will be joining us as CFO. Bob's trackrecord leading the financial strategy and direction of major companieslike EDS and TRW makes him the ideal person to shepherd eBay into ournext decade of growth," said Whitman. "Bob's great depth of financialexperience and knowledge make him a worthy successor to Rajiv, who soexpertly guided eBay over the last five years."
At EDS, Swan had financial responsibility for a globalorganization with revenues of more than $20 billion and 117,000employees. He was also a member of the company's executive team. Swanoversaw the company's controllership, treasury, tax, investorrelations, audit, planning, mergers and acquisitions, supply chainmanagement and corporate administrative functions for EDS's worldwideoperations. Prior to EDS, Swan served as CFO and Executive VicePresident at TRW. Swan has also held executive-level positions atWebvan, providing him with valuable Silicon Valley experience. Hebegan his career with General Electric in 1985 and spent 15 years in avariety of positions, including Corporate Audit Staff and CFO at GETransportation Systems and GE Medical Systems-Europe. He left GE in1999 as VP of Finance and CFO of GE Lighting.
