East West Bancorp Profit Rises 19% In Q1

(RTTNews) - East West Bancorp (EWBC) announced earnings for its first quarter that rose from last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $128.21 million, or $0.88 per share. This was higher than $107.52 million, or $0.74 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.74 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 7.9% to $272.12 million. This was up from $252.20 million last year.
