Dolby Laboratories Debuts New Software Products for DVD and Next-Generation Packaged Media, Spotlights Surround Sound Technologies for HDTV Postproduction

Dolby Laboratories (NYSE:DLB) announced today the firstpublic demonstration of its suite of content creation tools, Dolby(R)Media Producer, for DVD and next-generation high-definition (HD) mediaat the 119th AES Convention in New York City October 7-11, in booth400.

The Dolby Media Producer professional tools includes Dolby MediaEncoder, Dolby Media Decoder, and Dolby Media Tools. This family ofproducts supports content developed using Dolby technologies,including Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and MLPLossless(TM) formats. These tools support upcoming disc-based mediaformats such as HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc, as well as DVD-Video,DVD-Audio, and broadcast formats.

At its booth, Dolby will be presenting the Lake Technology productline's proven real-time control software used in sound reinforcementfor live events to in-studio mixing and EQ. Lake's unique userinterface allows sound engineers to control equalization withreal-time instant adjustments made to any processor, thus enablingrapid and intuitive changes, from any seat in the house. Dolby willdemonstrate the Lake Mesa Quad EQ(TM) with its Lake Controller(TM)software in a new in-studio surround application.

In addition to demos of the Dolby Media Producer products, Dolbywill showcase its proven surround sound technologies for HDTVpostproduction, and sponsor two industry panels on the next-generationconsumer disc formats, HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

AES program registrants will be able to attend a specialconference event, an afternoon with Ray Dolby, Founder and Chairman ofDolby Laboratories, who will speak on his life and the last 40 yearshe dedicated to enhancing the entertainment experience. Co-moderatorsBarry Fox, freelance journalist, and Paul Gallo, from the ProfessionalAudio Manufacturers Alliance, will talk with Ray Dolby on Sunday,October 9, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

-- The Lake Mesa Quad EQ, which delivers loudspeaker system processing and high-resolution equalization for recording, mastering, and broadcast use. It provides four discrete channels of Lake's powerful EQ Overlay processing, with extensible signal routing, delay, and dynamics capabilities.

-- Dolby Pro Logic II technology for delivering captivating five-channel surround sound capability on any two-channel analog or digital television program or service, HD Radio(TM), VHS tapes, and video games.
