Aschheim (Munich). Wirecard AG's acquisition of the payment business of Great Indian (GI) Retail Group, which was signed on 27 October 2015, is closed.

Today the last steps of the closing have been finished. Wirecard is holding now 100 percent of the shares in Hermes and 60 percent in GI Technology.

Wirecard CEO Markus Braun says:" We are welcoming 900 employees in India to the Wirecard Group and are excited to further push the e-commerce and money-remittance solutions of the two key brands iCASHCARD and Smartshop. In addition to this fast growing business we will step-by-step roll-out our Wirecard services into the Indian market."

The due diligence process was supported in its entirety by Baker Tilly Roelfs for financial and tax advisory. Wirecard legal advisors were Osborne Clarke and BTG Legal, India.

After a positive start into the current fiscal year, Wirecard management board is optimistic about the further development of the operative business in 2016.
