Despite Surprise Decision By Federal Reserve CD Rates Little Changed
NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- RateWatch, a premier banking data and analytics service owned by TheStreet, Inc. (NASDAQ: TST) reported today CD rates were little changed this week despite a surprise decision by the Federal Reserve on Wednesday to continue its $85 billion monthly bond-buying program which sent 10-year Treasury yields to their lowest levels since August.

"The decision by the central bank and the subsequent Treasury rally should have led to lower rates in all maturities, though three- and five- year CD rates actually rose, though only by one basis point, or a tenth of one percent," said Dan Freed, Senior Writer for TheStreet. "Still, the extension of the Fed's easy money policies suggests it will be a still-longer wait for savers hoping to earn interest rates approaching anything like their historical norms."
