Department of Commerce, MOEA Leads F&B Industry to Explore Business Opportunities in Thailand
BANGKOK, July 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- In order to help Taiwanese food and beverage (F&B) industries develop business opportunities in the New Southbound markets, the Director General Lee May, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Economic Affairs led the delegation to explore business opportunities and matchmaking in Thailand from July 9th to 13th for biz-matchmaking and expedition. The delegation, including Youngqin Int'l Co., Milksha, Chun Shui Tang, Du Hsiao Yueh and several brands of ice, healthy foods and Taiwanese cuisines, visited the Chinese trade organizations, investment centres, department stores and F&B business in Thailand to explore business opportunities in Thailand.
In the beginning of the conference, Thai-Taiwan Business Association shared some experience of Taiwanese businesses. Also, Mr. Tung Chen-Yuan, representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand was invited to introduce the "single window service of bilateral investment between Taiwan and Thailand", including investment counselling, biz matching etc., to provide some assistance to investors who plan to enter the Thai market.
Furthermore, the Department of Commerce and the Federation of Oversea Chinese Traders Alumni of Thailand worked together to hold the "2019 Thailand International Franchise Biz Matchmaking Conference", and invited 30 more Thai enterprises which were interested in Taiwanese F&B industry. During the conference, 7 MOUs were signed. Also, several Thai and Taiwanese enterprises has showed the willingness to have further business cooperation.
Also, The Department of Commerce will provide consulting services for any legal and tax issues which may occur in the future to help Taiwanese businesses explore the business opportunities in the New Southbound market.
Having a population of about 69 million, Thailand is the second largest economy in ASEAN. Furthermore, by standing at the intersection of Southeast Asia, Thailand is the gate to the ASEAN market. In terms of the F&B market, Thailand has its market value exceeding 400 billion baht. Taiwanese cuisines, including bubble tea, xiaolongbao and Taiwanese breads are getting more and more famous around the world. Thus, Taiwan must seek to export our cuisines to Thailand. Thai people like to try new foods, following the household income growth, they are paying more and more attention on new healthy diets. Taiwanese F&B brands' business modes including diversity, innovation and health-oriented coincidentally caught the consuming trend in Thailand. Therefore, the Department of Commerce hopes to help the domestic F&B brands to take the chance in Thailand, in order to gain business achievement in the Thai F&B market.
