Delta Air Lines January Traffic And Capacity Increase - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Airline operator Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) reported that its traffic in January 2014 increased 4.2% from January 2013, on a capacity increase of 1.8%.
The airline said total system traffic for the month rose 4.2% to 14.49 billion revenue passenger miles or RPMs from 13.91 billion RPMs in the same period last year.
Monthly total system capacity was 17.84 billion available seat miles or ASMs, up 1.8% from 17.53 billion ASMs in the prior year period.
Total System load factor for the month was 81.2%, up 1.8 points from 79.4% in same month last year.
Consolidated passenger unit revenue or PRASM for the month of January increased 5.0% year over year driven by continuing strong domestic demand and corporate revenue gains. As a result of recent severe weather from Winter Storm Leon, Delta cancelled nearly 4,000 flights primarily at its hub in Atlanta. January's PRASM includes 0.5 point of benefit from these weather-related cancellations.
Fuel price per gallon, adjusted, for the first-quarter is expected to be $2.99 - $3.04.
