CUSTOMER WIN: Las Vegas Sands Corporation Doubles Down on BMC Software to Ensure Compliance, Reduce Cost
As they enjoy the company’s glamorous hotels and casinos, patrons of Las Vegas Sands Corporation (LVS) properties probably never stop to consider the underlying technology that enables the resorts to operate to perfection. That’s exactly how LVS wants it, which is why the company has selected BMC Software (NYSE:BMC) to manage its information technology and systems infrastructure.
"The operation of our back-end IT systems is an embodiment of the standard we set to provide guests with exceptional customer service and hospitality,” said Steve Vollmer, chief technology officer for Las Vegas Sands Corp. "BMC Software will not only help us ensure the compliance and security of our technology systems, but enable us to efficiently support and maintain those systems at a lower cost.”
LVS owns and operates many of Las Vegas’ most recognizable landmarks, including The Venetian and The Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino, as well as the Sands Expo and Convention Center. BMC BladeLogic Operations Manager and BMC Configuration Automation for Networks will manage hundreds of servers and network devices responsible for Web site, point-of-sale, corporate financial systems, and resort services applications for these North American properties with an eventual rollout worldwide.
BMC enables LVS to centrally administer its IT infrastructure from Las Vegas using a single management console. Formerly manual, repetitive tasks such as provisioning, configuration, change and compliance for servers and network devices will now be automated, reducing error and increasing IT productivity. Additionally, BMC’s lower total cost of ownership versus competing solutions will help LVS reduce operational costs by 50 percent. These features played a significant role in LVS’ decision to select BMC Software.
"Automating server and network configuration not only cuts time and expense, but it also reduces our risk for security breaches,” continued Vollmer. "Our customers’ information is a top priority and BMC helps us protect that data by ensuring all of our servers meet regulatory, operational and security compliance. Best of all, BMC gives us that assurance with a solution that allows us to better allocate IT resources and improve service delivery.”
