Hall 3, STAND H24
SAN FRANCISCO & CANNES, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 2005--Critical Path, Inc. (Nasdaq:CPTH), a leading provider of messaging software and services, today announced the launch of Memova(TM) -- a new brand of consumer messaging solutions for mobile operators, broadband and fixed-line service providers. The Memova solutions, which include mobile email, anti-abuse, email and value-added messaging services, were launched today at the 3GSM World Congress exhibition in Cannes, France.
Today's consumers demand a better email experience. They are frustrated by the proliferation of spam and viruses, they want easy access to email on-the-go without having to upgrade their mobile devices, and they want to easily access and share multimedia content. Service providers are responding to these demands by enriching existing services, as well as offering new services that can drive mobile data usage, boost subscriber loyalty and stimulate broadband adoption.
In the mobile consumer market, the demand for a better mobile email experience is growing.
"We see the mobile consumer market offering great potential worldwide for an easy-to-use, affordable email system (our forecasts show around 500 million users by 2007). This kind of mobile service will help drive and expand the new mobile communities which are currently developing in the marketplace," said Richard Jesty, Senior Consultant, Informa Telecoms & Media.
Memova enables service providers to deliver a new consumer experience, ending the days of spam-ridden mailboxes, cumbersome mobile email services and limited multimedia capabilities.
"With Memova, our subscribers will get the rich multimedia and mobile experience they've been wanting with email," said Brata Hardjosubroto, CEO, IndosatM2, a leading Internet and multimedia service provider in Indonesia that is deploying Memova. "We expect Memova to help us drive ARPU, as well as stimulate broadband adoption."
"Previously, the lack of usable consumer mobile email services has caused service providers to focus primarily on the professional or enterprise segment, leaving the mass market largely untapped. In fact, hundreds of millions of mobile phones are not being used for email today," said Mike Serbinis, CTO and EVP Marketing, Critical Path. "The key to unlocking this market's potential is a solution that provides consumers with an easy-to-use, affordable and feature-rich push email experience they can enjoy on their existing handsets."
Critical Path's newly branded Memova solutions include Memova(TM) Mobile, Memova(TM) Anti-Abuse and Memova(TM) Messaging:
Memova(TM) Mobile pushes email from existing email accounts, such as Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL, or any ISP, to the subscriber's mobile phone and it works with any MMS handset. The solution gives subscribers complete control to select which email messages they receive. Unlike other mobile email solutions on the market today, Memova Mobile does not require a special handset or software installation, making mobile email easier to use and more affordable for consumers.
Memova(TM) Anti-Abuse is a plug-and-play anti-virus, anti-spam appliance that stops more than 95 percent of abuse traffic from entering subscriber email, while lowering costs for the service provider. Memova Anti-abuse helps control escalating costs by dropping more than 75 percent of abuse before adding more costly message analysis.
Memova(TM) Messaging is a solution platform that enables service providers to offer a rich consumer email experience. Focusing on the demands of broadband subscribers, Memova Messaging combines Critical Path's long-established email technology with new value-added services, such as the ability to synchronize personal information, and easily store and share multimedia content, including voice messages, video, photos and music.
