COVID-19 Pandemic - The government presents its daily update

QUÉBEC, Dec. 29, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19 in Québec show 2,381 new cases, bringing the total number of people infected to 197,311, of which 168,061 people have now recovered. The data also report 64 new deaths, for a total of 8,124. Among these 64 deaths, 17 have occurred in the last 24 hours, 39 have occurred between December 22 and December 27, 1 before December 22 and 7 have occurred at an unknown date. The number of hospitalizations increased by 7 compared to the previous day, for a cumulative total of 1,131. Among these, the number of people in intensive care decreased by 2, for a total of 148. The samples conducted on December 27 amount to 23,444 for a total of 4,817,090. Finally, 2,857 doses of vaccine were administered yesterday, for a total of 22,500.

It should be noted that the press release reporting the data will take a break on January 1 and 2. An abridged version of this press release will be issued on January 3.

A reminder concerning public health instructions :

To limit to the utmost the virus' spread, it is important to:

  • frequently wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water, especially when you come in from outside;
  • use alcohol-based disinfectant on your hands if soap and water are unavailable;
  • respect the measures regarding private gatherings and activities in a public setting according to the alert level in effect in your region;
  • limit your travel as much as possible.

For people aged 10 and over, wearing a face covering is now mandatory in most enclosed and partially enclosed public places and on public transit.

  • self-isolate;
  • cough into your elbow;
  • immediately discard tissues after use and wash your hands;
