Cott Q2 Profit Tops Estimate

(RTTNews) - Cott Corp. (COT, BCB.TO) reported net income for the second quarter of $2.2 million or $0.02 per share, compared to a net loss of $5.9 million or $0.06 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net income for the second quarter was $17.6 million or $0.18 per share, compared to $17.2 million or $0.18 per share in the prior year quarter.

Revenue for the second quarter rose 42% to $779.8 million from $549.2 million a year earlier, due to the acquisition of DS Services.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.15 per share on revenue of $793.88 million for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company also announced the signing of two agreements for the acquisition of home and office delivery water businesses which together generate about $9 million in annual revenues. The acquisitions are expected to close in the third quarter of 2015.
