Con-way Q3 Profit Rises, Tops View

(RTTNews) - Transportation and logistics company Con-way Inc (CNW) Wednesday reported an increase in profit for the third quarter, as revenues grew. Earnings and revenues for the quarter came in ahead of analysts estimates.

Ann Arbor, Michigan-based Con-way's third-quarter net income rose to $45.6 million or $0.78 per share from $30.6 million or $0.53 per share last year.

Adjusted earnings rose to $0.80 per share from $0.58 per share last year. On average, 20 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.75 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the quarter grew to $1.50 billion from last year's revenue of $1.40 billion. Analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $1.49 billion for the quarter.
